This ring is in the form of an oak leaf, which has curled around on itself to form a circle.
The leaf was cut from a sheet of copper, and the lines of veins were impressed onto the surface. The leaf was oxidised, then it was partly rubbed back, allowing some of the copper surface to show through, but leaving some areas with oxidisation. The dark oxidised surface has also remained in the impressions, emphasising the veins of the leaf.
The ring tapers at each end, but it is 1.5cm at its widest point – please make sure that your finger is long enough from base to knuckle before ordering! It’s a striking piece of jewellery, but it is cut from fairly thin copper sheet, so it is not heavy or uncomfortable to wear, and sits nicely on the finger.
The leaf overlaps on itself slightly, and has not been soldered, so you can make small adjustments to the size if you later decide you want to wear it on a different finger.
Wear it with the thickest part at the front, or turn it round to show the taper and overlap for a different look.
